Happy Birthday, Credit Union National Association!
Eighty-seven years ago in Estes Park, Colorado, a group of like-minded people with a belief in the power of not-for-profit financial cooperatives founded the Credit Union National Association. Those pioneers saw the importance of financial inclusion, especially in a country still reeling from the Great Depression, and acted.
There have been countless changes in our financial system since then, but the need for safe and affordable services is as pressing today as it has ever been. We again find ourselves in a difficult situation, attempting to recover from a pandemic that has impacted our lives at every level. The credit union system has acted accordingly, from finding ways to provide services remotely to boldly advocating on behalf of our members. Credit unions will continue to be a vital part of solutions.
